The return of Gorillaz is imminent, with the two-man project steadily working in the studio on their unnamed fifth studio album. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have teased some details about the forthcoming feature, which has a projected release year of 2017, and is “really fucking special,” according to a clip of Hewlett from last month.
This past weekend, Albarn spoke to BBC 6 Radio and dished on some new information about the follow up to their 2010 studio LP, The Fall. “Later in the year we’ll be starting to get the whole Gorillaz thing together,” Albarn states. He went on to reveal that he is “loving” their new material, and feels that the new album “should be ready fairly soon.”
Listen to the full interview with Albarn, and keep an eye out for new developments, perhaps via Gorillaz’ YouTube, since their music videos were re-uploaded to the streaming platform recently.
